Ruben Loftus-Cheek's indifferent loan spell at Fulham continued on Wednesday night as the Cottagers drew their relegation six-pointer 1-1 with Burnley.

The Chelsea loanee still has just one goal to show for his time at Craven Cottage, as he struggles to regain the form that saw him starting for both the Blues and England less than two years ago.

In a cruel blow, the 25-year-old was forced to spend more than a year on the sidelines, suffering a serious Achilles injury during a 2018/19 campaign which had seen him break into the Chelsea team.

And in truth, Loftus-Cheek has never really been the same player since. While tidy, the Englishman has failed to rediscover the creative touch which made him so effective.

Wales legend Dean Saunders, commentating on the Burnley draw for talkSPORT 2, believes Loftus-Cheek is struggling with confidence and looks 'lost' right now.

However, the Chelsea loanee has the quality to get Fulham out of trouble this season, and former Aston Villa striker Saunders believes their future in the division will depend on it.

"I think he's a bit lost at the minute," Saunders told talkSPORT 2. "He had such a good start in his career.

"He's gone to Fulham and I've not seen him play like he can play for a long, long time.

"He looks like he's got no confidence, every step he takes is a bit of a doubt.

"He needs to step up to the plate. If Fulham are going to stay up, he's one of the players who needs to come up with some assists and some goals in the next ten days."
