ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – While addressing a ceremony in connection with handing over homes to laborers in Islamabad under the Naya Pakistan Housing Program, Prime Minister Imran Khan Thursday said it is a great achievement to turn a 25-year-old project into reality.

The premier paid tribute to the efforts of special assistant Zulfi Bukhari and his team, and said Naya (new) Pakistan is in fact the name of new mindset. No one had thought that homes will be built for the poor, he added.

“The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is focusing on the progress of the underdeveloped which is their right. The laborers used to live on rent but they will now own their homes by paying the same amount in installments.

“The incumbent regime introduced new law – which took two years to get clearance from court – for easy loans for the construction of houses. This project would not have been possible without the involvement of banks.”

Earlier, Zulfi Bukhari said the Naya Pakistan Housing Program is the best step for the poor as 508 families are being given homes under it. He told that the cost of one house is Rs 23.24 lac and possession is given on ten percent payment.

The beneficiaries can pay the remaining ninety percent in installments from five up to twenty years, he added.
