Lionel Messi’s Cousin: Captain Is ‘Not Happy’ At FC Barcelona And Wants To Look ‘In New Directions’

The cousin of FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi has spoken on his future and claims that the captain is “not happy” at the club.

Ever since submitting a burofax on Tuesday evening stating a desire to terminate his contract with the Catalans, the Argentine’s future has been up in the air.

Believing himself to be a Blaugrana star no longer following both the expiration of his current deal, officially set to wind down in June 2021, and a release clause of €700mn, Messi hopes to meet with top brass immediately and arrange an “amicable exit”.

This would most likely be in the form of accepting a lower cash offer from Manchester City, yet president Josep Bartomeu and his associates are not interested in touching bases unless it is to discuss fresh terms for the number 10 by way of an extension.

Meanwhile, La Liga have come out in support of Barça and claim that everything in Messi’s agreement is still intact.

Though Messi continues to baffle and frustrate fans by refusing to come out and speak on his future, or address the humbling 8-2 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League as the team’s leader, the Ballon d’Or holder’s cousin Maxi Biancucchi has at least addressed his current predicament.

Asked to comment on Radio Continental, Biancucchi began by saying that “Leo has to find the place where he is happy. If he leaves, it is because he is not happy and wants to seek new directions. It is his right.”

“From what I read, he has a contract until next year,” Biancucchi continued. “If we analyze [the situation], it would be positive if he left today because the club would get money and he would not go for free. They have to pay attention to what he feels.”

Like many Culers and soccer enthusiasts, Biancucchi had previously never imagined that this day, when Messi left his employers of 20 years prematurely as opposed to bowing out of the sport at the Camp Nou, would come.

“I thought that he was never going to leave Barça,” Biancucchi admitted. “I would like to see him in a team that plays well. Of all the teams that play well, it seems to me that he would fit in at Manchester City. Over there, [and] at PSG too, but we are going to wait and [hope that] wherever he goes he will be happy and have peace,” it was concluded.
