Swindon Town have signed goalkeeper Connal Trueman on an emergency loan deal, with the Birmingham City man set to make his Robins debut against Sunderland tomorrow.

The struggling Robins head north to take on the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light tomorrow evening.

An injury to Jojo Wollacott in the warm-up ahead of Swindon's weekend win against Northampton Town saw 19-year-old Archie Matthews make his debut in that game.

But, with Swindon left with the inexperienced Matthews as their only fit keeper, John Sheridan has opted to bring in 24-year-old Trueman on a seven-day loan.

Trueman has already faced Sunderland on Wearside this season, having previously spent a spell on loan at AFC Wimbledon who drew 1-1 with the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light in December.

Assuming Trueman plays tomorrow, he will be the sixth goalkeeper to play for Swindon this season.

They started the campaign with Matej Kovar in goal, but he was recalled from his loan spell by Manchester United in January.

Former Middlesbrough man Joe Fryer joined the club on a free transfer and played a handful of games before he was released in January.

Swindon signed Mark Travers on loan from Bournemouth in January, but he was recalled by the Cherries last month.

Wollacott was next in line, signed on an emergency loan deal last month from Bristol City, before his injury handed Matthews his chance, and now the baton has been passed to Trueman.
