A Cheshire policeman sent explicit photos to someone he thought was a 12 year old girl - but turned out to be another officer.

Bryn Majid, 59, sent a picture of his penis to whom he thought was a child while he was at work. He was a custody investigation officer for Cheshire Police at the time.

And he even used the nickname 'Copper762' to send the messages.

But the whole time, Majid was talking to another police office working undercover.

When his house in Widnes was raided, a stash of more than 150 sickening images was discovered, the Liverpool Echo reports.

On Friday, Liverpool crown court heard how Majid struck up an "online friendship" with what he thought was a 12-year-old girl in February this year.

Kyra Badman, prosecuting, said they began speaking on the Kik messenger app, where Majid used the name 'Copper762'.

Majid, who was a custody investigation officer at the time, would initially engage in general chat with the 'girl' before making the conversation more sexually explicit as the months wore on.

The court heard that on April 17 he sent a picture of himself in a "work environment" along with a two-second clip in which he "winks at the camera".

In another message on Apil 21 Majid said: "Can I ask something of you, can I ask to see what you look like no pressure though, not if you don't feel comfortable."

He then asked her to move the chat to Skype where they continued messaging and he said he would like to meet up with her, Ms Badman explained.

She told the court he had described himself as a "big softy" and said if they met up they could "hold hands" and said he would "show her how to kiss".

In Skype video calls he would "wave, blow kisses and attempt to voice chat".

Ms Badman also explained he told her how to perform a sex act on herself, suggesting she try it.

She told the court he also told the girl "I'm gonna send you a Kik pic of what I’m eventually going to put in u."

Ms Badman said: "He sent her a message saying she was ‘looking lovely’ and said he was ‘slightly older’ than her but nonetheless would she like to meet up one day.

"He said any meeting would be ‘their little secret'."

Majid, of Old Coach Road, Runcorn, said he'd like to see her and asked her to send pictures to his email address, saying he "would love to see her boobs".

On April 24th he even told the 'girl' that he couldn't wait for lockdown to be lifted so he could meet her.

Ms Badman said: "He asked ‘Jess’ if she would tidy his house in her underwear or nude and that he would pay her."

It was then that he sent three images of him standing at work with his penis exposed.

Majid continued to send explicit messages and told her "he would make love to her" and even sent her a link to a porn video of a man in his 60s engaged in sexual activity with a girl aged between 16 and 20.

On May 1 police officers went to a house on Hale Road in Widnes where they seized a Dell laptop and an iPhone, discovering the images which included 24 of child rape.

Some of the images involved children as young as five or six, Liverpool Crown Court heard today.

In an interview on June 26 he admitted the images were his but said "he never had any intention to touch a child, that is was all part of an online fantasy that began in 2010".

Ms Badman said: "He accepted he was chatting with ‘Jess’ but had no intention of actually meeting her."

Majid has no previous convictions, the court heard.

He admitted attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child and three counts of downloading images at an earlier court hearing.

Steven McNally, defending, said: "He is of previous good character, more than that of previous positive good character. He served as a police officer for many years and served the public in a positive capacity.

"It is with huge regret that he has not only brought shame and embarrassment to him and his family but to the police service and his friends and colleagues in it."

Mr McNally explained Majid has begun to address the "underlying issues behind his behaviour" by reaching out to the Safer Lives Group in Leeds.

Mr McNally said: "It demonstrates not only his remorse but the efforts he is making to address those issues."

He asked the judge to also recognise Majid had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity in court and highlighted that the court has received statements from his sister and wife, which showed "a structure of stability and security behind Mr Majid."

Mr McNally also explained that as a child Majid suffered, which resulted in "repercussions" although no specific details were given in court.

Judge Denis Watson, QC, said he accepted the submission that there was never an intention to meet, although Majid admitted saying it.

The judge handed Majid a 20-month prison sentence, and made him sign the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.

He was also made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order which must run for 10 years.

The judge also ordered the devices seized by police to be forfeited and destroyed.
