TEXARKANA - Not everyone wants to awaken early on a Saturday morning to take our lives to the next level, but local writer D.C. Gomez does.

Gomez, whose latest book is the four-week devotional "Dare to Believe," has started a weekly series, "Chit-Chat with D.C.," and this Saturday starting at 9:30 a.m. she'll gladly talk with you about branding.

Other subjects her discussions have covered recently include the importance of consistency, avoiding burnout, facing self-limiting beliefs, finding balance, pushing yourself daily and more.

"The chit-chats are actually very focused on the non-fiction side of my business right now. I have a master's degree in adult education and I have been teaching for over 10 years," Gomez said. She's certified as a John Maxwell team member and loves both inspiring and motivating people.

"I want people to start living literally their best lives now," Gomez said, noting she aims to give information in a short format - only 30 minutes - that helps people with their lives. What is it to live up to your potential? That's the question she explores.

Gomez has started her devotional "Dare" collection, and "Dare to Believe" is the first book in the series.

"It's all about challenging people to to step outside of their limiting beliefs," Gomez said. "It's getting people to start looking at themselves for their true potential, to truly start looking at themselves and say, 'You know what, I can do this.'"

She puts it this way: "If this little Dominican whose English is not their first language can take a leap of faith and start writing books, you can do it too."

To help her get the word out, the writer runs a weekly newsletter that delivers "Motivational Monday" messages. She also aims to get her fiction followers involved. She's using different platforms to get people excited and think about themselves from a different perspective, she says.

"Believe it or not, it has been really exciting," Gomez said about the interest, even on a Saturday morning. If people are up then, she wants to get you motivated.

"I have been very surprised at the amount of people that have reached out to me and said, 'I need it this morning,'" she said.

That's what she wants to hear. She appreciates her watchers and says in this time of a COVID-19 pandemic many people came to her to say how overwhelmed they felt. She wants to help them find their center.

You can find her weekly chit-chat events on Facebook. Look for her author page. She uses the Switcher Studio app. She'd like to see these weekly discussions find new viewers via networking.

"I ideally would like people to truly start sharing them with their friends. I would love to build a community of people that are getting ready to step to the next level of their lives," said Gomez, who has an intense workshop planned about her devotionals. People can go deeper into the studies or simply get the weekly samples.

Her audience is eclectic, she says, ranging from business owners to listeners interested in topics ranging from leadership to personal development. It's a new project, in addition to her fiction writing, day job, podcasts and more. She's busy but dedicated.

"The chit-chats are very broad, so anyone can apply them at any point in their lives," Gomez said.
