The late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is being honored at a special exhibit at the Maltz Museum in Beachwood.

The life and times of a Supreme Court justice are being celebrated in a special exhibit at the Maltz Museum.

The exhibit "Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg," which opened Wednesday, Feb. 24, and runs through Aug. 29, is inspired by the bestselling book of the same name. Ginsburg died Sept. 18 at age 87.

The Beachwood museum of Jewish heritage worked with the book's authors Irin Carmon and Shana Knizhnik to curate the exhibit, which looks at the life and work of Ginsburg.

The exhibit uses photographs, documents and historical artifacts to tell her life story as a student, life partner, mother,  lawyer, judge, women’s rights pioneer and later in life a pop culture icon.

The museum also worked with the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles to create the interactive exhibit.

A temporary exhibit the "Notorious RBG" will be at the Maltz Museum through Aug. 29.

“Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg embodied the Jewish value of respect for all humanity,” said David Schafer, managing director of the Maltz Museum, in a prepared statement. “The Maltz Museum expresses the same value, as we work toward a more inclusive, just, and civil society. We are honored to share the Justice’s story with visitors, in person and online.”

The exhibit — like the book — touches on the playful connection between Ginsburg and the Notorious B.I.G. as they both were born and raised in Brooklyn, New York.

Each area of the exhibit bears the title of a riff from the late hip-hop artist from "I Got a Story to Tell" of her early life and education to "My Team Supreme" of her time on the highest court in the land.

Some of the items on exhibit include official portraits of her and Sandra Day O’Connor, the first two women to serve on the Supreme Court, that are on loan from the National Portrait Gallery along with correspondence with civil rights leader, poet and lawyer Pauli Murray.

They have also re-created Ginsburg’s childhood Brooklyn apartment and the Supreme Court bench.

The museum is planning special programming in the coming months including a screening of the film "RBG" along with discussions about landmark cases she heard.

The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday by timed tickets that must be purchased in advance by phone at 216-593-0575 or online at  www.maltzmuseum.org.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 students and seniors and $5 for kids ages 5 to 11. Museum visitors must wear masks.
