If you've ever used the dating website Adult Friend Finder, you might want to pay extra attention to this article. According to USA Today, the site told law enforcement it was hacked, comprising the most intimate details of some of its more than 64 million subscribers' lives.

Unlike sites such as eHarmony or Match, AFF is pretty straightforward about what users come looking for:

Looking for sex? Hoping to meet someone special for a hot, sexual relationship or even just a quick fling? Sign up at Adult FriendFinder.com to access our thriving sex community and satiate your need for amazing sexual experiences. Adult FriendFinder has helped millions of people find traditional partners, swinger groups, threesomes, and a variety of other alternative partners.

This isn't like a hacker stealing your credit card number to go buy a bunch of Pokemon cards (happened to a friend of mine). Hackers reportedly accessed private information included in users' profiles such as sexual orientation, email, name, address, birth date, and information on whether they were looking to cheat or not. Analysts say the information could potentially be used to blackmail users.

Channel 4 in the U.K. was the first to investigate the hack, reporting someone calling themselves ROR[RG] posted the information about users online. One person who spoke to Channel 4 said he had deleted his account a while ago but recently began receiving mysterious spam mail.

AFF's parent company, FriendFinder Networks (based in California), responded via statement to the BBC about the hack:

FriendFinder Networks Inc. has only just been made aware of this potential issue and understands and fully appreciates the seriousness of the issue ... We have already begun working closely with law enforcement and have launched a comprehensive investigation with the help of leading third-party forensics expert, Mandiant. Until the investigation is completed, it will be difficult to determine with certainty the full scope of the incident, but we will continue to work vigilantly to address this potential issue and will provide updates as we learn more from our investigation. We cannot speculate further about this issue, but rest assured, we pledge to take the appropriate steps needed to protect our customers if they are affected.

Now if you will excuse me, I'll be deleting every single app ever, burning all my equipment to go online, and moving to a tent in the middle of the woods, with all my money and private information buried in a box in the ground.
