Adult FriendFinder, a dating website often used for casual sexual encounters, is looking into a security breach after reports that more than 3.5 million users had their information stolen. The hack was first spotted by IT security consultant and blogger Bev Robb and then further investigated by the UK's Channel 4 News. FriendFinder Networks Inc. said on its website that it was investigating the breach with the help of security firm Mandiant. "Until the investigation is completed, it will be difficult to determine with certainty the full scope of the incident, but we will continue to work vigilantly to address this potential issue and will provide updates as we learn more from our investigation," the company wrote. "We cannot speculate further about this issue, but rest assured, we pledge to take the appropriate steps needed to protect our customers if they are affected." Adult FriendFinder not only asks for details like an email address and birth date, but also encourages users to share personal sexual preferences with other users.
