Fantasy Fund Manager: last chance to enter and claim the £5,000 top prize
Players will be given £100,000 to invest in between five and 20 stocks from the FTSE 350
The winner of Telegraph Fantasy Fund Manager will take home £5,000 – but players must sign up today to be in with a chance of claiming our top prize.
Time is running out: 4:30pm is the deadline for entrants to be eligible for the jackpot prize, which will be handed to the player who tops the leaderboard when the stock market closes on May 28.
Our stock-picking game is back for its third season with a twist. Players signing up now have the chance to win £1,000 every week, on top of the £5,000 grand prize.
Higher weekly prizes, up from £100 in our previous games, will bring more strategies into play, with even players languishing at the bottom of the overall leaderboard in with the chance of putting together a week-long run to claim £1,000.
Players will be given £100,000 to invest in between five and 20 stocks from the FTSE 350 index and can make as many changes as they like.
Alasdair McKinnon, of the Scottish Investment Trust, said players targeting a weekly prize should pick “boom or bust” stocks, adding the reopening of the economy would be the major theme for stock markets during the game.
“The big movements in stock markets have been between the stocks that will do well when the economy reopens and those that have done well during the pandemic,” he said.
If markets continue to recover, as the vaccine rollout eases the restrictions in place, retailers and leisure companies should bounce. Mr McKinnon suggested players with an eye on the £1,000 prizes should bookmark the key dates in the Government’s roadmap out of lockdown, alongside the reporting dates for some of the stocks which could bounce.
“There will be huge demand for people to go out to eat or do anything that they have not been able to do while in lockdown. The leisure sector will be heavily influenced by that recovery,” Mr McKinnon said.
