Controversial $95 Elderflame Dragon Skins Disappear From ‘Valorant’ Today

This article is more than 3 years old.

The controversial $95 Elderflame skins in Valorant that turn your weapons into dragons will be removed from sale later today.

Just like all of the skin bundles so far in Valorant, the Elderflame set has been available for two weeks now, so it will be rotating out of the store later today. So if you want to get your hands on the dragon-like weapons then you will need to stump up some cash in the next few hours or possibly miss your chance forever.

So far no weapon bundle has appeared twice in the featured slot in the store, so there is no telling when you will next be able to get your hands on the weapon skins. There’s a good chance that individual skins will be available as daily deals, but it could be a while until the full set is on offer again.

The weapons have proved very controversial since launching a few weeks ago. While many agree that the design of the skins is incredible, and something we have never seen in any game before, the big sticking point has been the massive price tag. Coming in at $95 for four weapon skins and a knife skin, the bundle certainly isn’t cheap, but arguments have been raging across the internet on if they represent good value.

Some, myself included, would argue that at under $20 per skin this actually isn’t extortionate at all, with many other skins in other games costing considerably more for less eye-catching designs. Add in the fact that Valorant is completely free to play and that skins offer no competitive advantage whatsoever and there seems to be little reason to complain about the price. If you don’t like it don’t buy it.

Others have said that for a microtransaction the price is way too high, and could set a precedent of higher prices for similar items across all games in the future. Others have said that the skins will actually give you a competitive disadvantage, due to the size and animations they have.

If you are someone that thinks the skins are pretty cool then you will want to head to the Valorant store and pick them up before the end of the day. Once you have the base skins you will be able to unlock the alternative styles with Radiant Points at any time, but this is your last chance to actually buy the skins.
