The York Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore has opened in the Queensgate Shopping Center.
The store opened on Saturday at 2001 S. Queen St. in York Township.
ReStore is a home improvement outlet that sells donated furniture, hardware items, tools, and other products for home renovations and upkeep. The items are sold for a lower cost than at a standard department store. Funds from ReStore are used to fund projects that the organization is working on throughout the community.
“The ReStore will create jobs, volunteer opportunities, and keep valuable and usable materials out of the landfill,” Tammi Morris, executive director of York Habitat for Humanity said in a press release.
The store hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Donations are being collected at the drop off zone behind the store, and arrangements can also be made for pick-up from a person’s residence. The store is also looking for volunteers to pick up donations, stock shelves, help customers, and various other tasks. Those that are interested can visit www.yorkhabitat.org.
York Habitat for Humanity is a Christian-based housing ministry that builds affordable homes for lower-income people living in substandard housing conditions. The organization is funded mainly by private donations, and government grants. York Habitat for Humanity has been around for 35 years and built its 138th home earlier this year. More than 3,250 volunteers work with York Habitat annually.
Habitat Humanity opened a ReStore location on Paxton Street in Harrisburg back in 2013.
