Cultural and heritage organisations in Ashfield and Eastwood get £72,386 boost

Cultural and heritage organisations in Ashfield and Eastwood have received a £72.386 funding boost to help them reopen and recover from the Covid pandemic.

Glitter Pantomimes of Kirkby in Ashfield, has been awarded £46,644, and the D H Lawrence Birthplace Museum at Eastwood has received £25,742 from the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund.

Glitter Pantomimes is a scenery and costume hire company that services the pantomime industry for professional theatres and amateur dramatics.

The D. H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum is dedicated to writer D. H. Lawrence. He was born there in 1885.

Nationwide, more than 2,700 culture, heritage organisations and independent cinemas are supported as part of the Fund, worth almost £2 billion.The money is part of £400 million in grants and loans for arts organisations.

MP Lee Anderson welcomed the news and said: “The past year has had a devastating impact on cultural and heritage organisations in Ashfield and Eastwood, it is fantastic news that £72,386 is being provided to support these valued organisations.

“I’m excited that as we set out on our cautious roadmap to reopening up this sector, we’ll soon be able to enjoy these extraordinary institutions once again, and I’m delighted that support is being put in place to help them thrive.”
