WAYLAND TOWNSHIP, MI - A horse named Missy was trapped in an icy pond for an unknown amount of time before the local sheriff’s office and fire department freed her last week.
On Friday, Feb. 26, Allegan County Sheriff’s Office’s animal control officer responded to a Wayland Township residence for a report of a horse stuck in the homeowner’s pond, according to information released by the department via Facebook on Tuesday, March 2. The duration that the horse was stuck is unknown.
While en route, the deputy requested assistance from the Wayland Fire Department. It took the firefighters less than 30 minutes to free Missy from the ice. They cut the ice and removed it to make a path for Missy to walk out of the pond.
