Twins charged in knife and bat attack in Westerleigh; victim suffered punctured lung

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — It’s a case of trouble times two.

Twin brothers from Port Richmond Center attacked a victim in Westerleigh almost three months ago, puncturing his lung, allege prosecutors.

Brandon Wood, 22, stabbed the victim with a knife, while his sibling, Kevin Wood, hit the 31-year-old man with a baseball bat, said criminal complaints.

The assault occurred at around 1 a.m. on Nov. 7 behind a location on the 200 block of Watchogue Road, the complaints said.

The victim was transported to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton, a police spokesman previously told the Advance/SILive.com. His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, said the spokesman.

The criminal complaints did not say what precipitated the alleged attack.

The defendants live at the same Crystal Avenue address, said authorities.

Brandon Wood was indicted on charges of first-, second- and third-degree assault, along with criminal weapon possession.

Kevin Wood was charged with second- and third-degree assault and criminal weapon possession.

The defendants pleaded not guilty at their arraignments Tuesday in state Supreme Court, St. George.

They were released under supervision.

Their next court date is Feb. 19.

Maria Guastella, Kevin Wood’s lawyer, declined to comment on the case.

Brandon Wood’s attorney did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
