College Park businesses and nonprofits received up to $40.8 million in loans from the Small Business Administration’s Paycheck Protection Program, according to data recently released in partnership with the Treasury Department.

The Payment Protection Program was designed to aid small businesses weathering the economic toll brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. And 328 College Park businesses — including Looney’s Pub, R.J. Bentley’s and the Junior Tennis Champions Center — are among those that benefited from the program.

Castle Sprinkler and Alarm, Imported Cars of Maryland and La Prima Food Group each received between $1 million and $2 million from the program — the highest bracket recorded in the city.

Eleven businesses and nonprofits, including Holiday Inn and the American Association of Physics Teachers, received between $350,000 and $1 million. Thirty-four businesses received between $150,000 and $350,000, including Terrapin Care Centers. Nearly 300 businesses received less than $150,000 from the program.
