Rishabh Pant, after finishing the Border-Gavaskar series as the highest scorer for Team India, has become the fan favourite for the upcoming ICC Player of the Month Award. Along with three other Indians, Pant was one of the 10 players, who were nominated for the award, which was launched by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday.

But it seems, Pant's 97 and 89* have made more more fans than Joe Root's 426 runs in the two Test matches England played against Sri Lanka. According to DNA Poll on which of the Indian players is most likely to receive the accolade, Pant was the winner and by some margin.

Pant received 56 percent of the audiences' votes while the second best was Mohammed Siraj with 17 percent of the votes, almost one-fourth of what Pant got. In five innings, Pant amassed 274 runs, thereby becoming the top-scorer for the Indian team in terms of run-aggregate, while Cheteshwar Pujara was second trailing by just 3 runs.

Ravichandran Ashwin received 14.8 percent votes while the left-arm pacer T Natarajan got 12 percent of the votes.

Pant, who didn't play at the Adelaide Oval in the first Test of the series, more than made up for his absence in the last three Tests, as he almost won the game at the SCG on the final day with his whilwind knock of 97 runs, while his 89* at the Gabba, won India the game, beating Australia in their fortress after 32 years.
