Nottingham Forest have enjoyed real success with the loan signing of James Garner from Manchester United this season.

The youngster checked in at the City Ground after a loan spell with Watford was terminated in January.

He has made a dozen appearances for the Reds and instantly become a fan favourite at the City Ground.

Plenty of supporters are hopeful that Garner can return to Forest for another loan next season – although that might not be possible.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is likely to take a look at the midfielder in pre-season and that won’t help Forest.

It does seem as though a relationship could blossom between the two clubs, however.

United will have plenty of other players who won’t be in Solskajer’s plans next season and who might be available for loan.

We looked at three United players who Forest could target on loan from Old Trafford next season.

Ethan Galbraith

The Northern Irishman has been a regular for the club’s under-23 ranks this season, scoring twice and claiming one assist.

He would perhaps offer a similar player to Garner, although he is a little bit more versatile.

For the under-23 ranks during 2020/21 he has featured in midfield, at centre-back and in the No.10 role behind a striker.

The 19-year-old has made one appearance for the first-team and is a very highly-rated player coming through the Old Trafford ranks.

Shola Shoretire

The 17-year-old was a surprise inclusion in United matchday squads recently – making his first-team debut in a 3-1 win over Newcastle.

He also gained an outing from the bench during a game against Real Sociedad in the Europa League and is an exciting talent.

Shoretire can operate on either flank or through the middle, boasting blistering pace and a keen eye for goal.

The Newcastle-born youngster has scored six times for the under-23 ranks and could head out on loan next season.

Reece Devine

Signing a young left-back on loan is something that would make a great deal of sense.

Yuri Ribeiro is out of contract in the summer and if he leaves there would be a serious need for a new addition.

If Forest have to invest money into other areas of the squad, Devine might be an attractive loan option.

The United defender has played 13 times for the under-23s this season, registering one assist.

Devine gets up and down the left hand side well and he could prove a quality addition if a temporary deal can be struck.
