Two suspects wanted for shots fired in Boston lead Massachusetts State Police on chase to Brockton before crashing into pole, authorities say

Two suspects who were wanted for shots fired in Boston are accused of leading Massachusetts State Police troopers on a chase to Brockton early Friday before crashing into a pole, authorities said.

A trooper from the agency’s Milton barracks located a vehicle around 2 a.m. that had been sought by Boston police following a call about shots fired, according to a statement from state police.

Two other troopers responded to help out, and the three state police patrols attempted to stop the car in the southbound lanes of Route 24 south of Harrison Boulevard near Exit 19, the statement said.

The car’s driver is accused of refusing to stop. A pursuit was then authorized, and the suspect’s vehicle took Exit 18 to Route 27, driving south to Brockton, according to the statement.

At that time, the chase was called off, but state police cruisers were able to see the suspect’s car continue at a high rate of speed down Route 27 toward Brockton, authorities said.

When approaching the intersection of Route 27 and West Avenue, the driver of the vehicle lost control and crashed into a pole, according to officials.

Brockton and state police responded to the crash scene, and both individuals in the car were taken into custody. The Boston Police Department was also notified, law enforcement said.

Two guns were discovered in the vehicle as well, authorities noted.

The two suspects were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. The individuals are being guarded by state police pending release, at which point they will be booked on various charges, officials said.
