STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Getting your prescriptions delivered can now be as easy as ordering dinner.

On Thursday, Uber announced that it has expanded its prescription delivery service to various cities throughout the country, including New York City.

Through a partnership with NimbleRx, the country’s leading prescription delivery service, customers can now use the Uber Eats app to request on-demand prescription delivery, tracking their medications every step along the way.

“At Uber, we’re hard at work making Uber Eats your go-to destination for much more than food from your favorite restaurant, corner store, or grocer. Today I’m excited to announce that we’re one step closer to delivering that reality to our consumers with the national expansion of on-demand prescription delivery in the U.S., powered by our partner NimbleRx,” said Raj Beri, Uber’s head of grocery and new verticals.

The new service comes at a time when home delivery is at a premium, with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continuing to confine many vulnerable populations to their home.

“Now more than ever, people are looking for ways to safely and conveniently get the things they need, and we’re proud to bring the very best parts of Uber to prescription delivery,” Beri said.

The expansion of the new program, which allows users to manage new and existing prescriptions from within the Uber Eats app, comes following a successful piloted rollout in Dallas and Seattle this past summer.

“Nimble was built on a simple idea: to allow local independent pharmacies to take better care of their customers by providing a high-quality and more convenient experience,” said Talha Sattar, founder and CEO of Nimble. “Our partnership expansion with Uber Eats is an extension of that mission, and will make on-demand prescription delivery possible at a time when consumers and pharmacies across the country need it most.”

Pharmacies interested in providing prescription deliveries through Uber Health are encouraged to reach out via the company website.
