Sunderland will hope to continue their fine run of form when they travel to promotion rivals Portsmouth this evening – with Sunday’s Papa John’s Trophy final also on the horizon.

Lee Johnson’s side have won five of their last six matches and climbed to fourth in the table following Saturday’s 2-0 win over Rochdale.

Portsmouth, meanwhile, have won just one of their last six with pressure starting to mount on manager Kenny Jackett.

There could also be some positive news on the injury front with the Black Cats set to welcome back several first-team players this week.

Striker Benji Kimpioka is also back in action following a serious hamstring injury and played 45 minutes for the under-23 side in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle at the Academy of Light.

The young Black Cats also handed a start to a trialist from Tottenham while Remi Matthews played the first half in goal.
