Alfa Romeos are usually spectacular cars if they are built properly, as they are extremely beautiful to look at. However, Quadrifoglio helps the Alfas do that extra step to become memorable as it equips these beauties with legendary engines.
The high-performance division of Alfa Romeo appeared for the first time with its legendary cloverleaf symbol in 1923 at the iconic race Targa Florio. Quadrifoglio was born to help Alfa Romeo win racing competitions and become an international household name.
However, the first road-legal Alfa Romeo to receive the cloverleaf badge was the Giulia in 1963. From that moment on, for almost 60 years, Quadrifoglio has given to the world a lot of incredible rides.
10 Alfasud Sprint Quadrifoglio Verde
The Alfasud is one of the most appreciated cars ever produced by Alfa Romeo. Anyone that has ever owned one has only good things to say about it. The Alfasud as a basic model was a cute car with a nice design, however the motor was nothing special as it was only a 1.2-liter flat-four cylinder.
For the Quadrifoglio version, Alfa Romeo mounted a 1.7-liter inline-four cylinder that raised the original output from 76 horsepower to 116 horsepower and could push it to a top speed of 122 mph. The car was in production from 1976 until 1989.
9 Spider Quadrifoglio Verde
The Spider is the longest-running model of Alfa Romeo as it was in production from 1966 until 1994. The car has countless generations and all of them are memorable. However, the most exciting one to drive is the third generation Quadrifoglio Verde.
It was powered by a 2.0-liter Twin Cam inline-four cylinder that produced 126 horsepower and could push this beauty to a top speed of 130 mph. Over 100,000 Spider have been sold in the world in almost 30 years of production.
8 75 Quadrifoglio
The 75 is one of the most popular cars ever made by Alfa Romeo as in barely 7 years of production from 85 until 92 the company sold over 380,000 units around the world. The 75 was supposed to be the Italian answer to the German sedans and it was powered by a reliable 1.6-liter inline-four cylinder engine.
However, Quadrifoglio decided to throw away that engine and create a beast. The engineering team mounted a 3.0-liter V6 that produced 189 horsepower and could push the car to a top speed of 140 mph.
7 Giulia Sprint GTA Quadrifoglio 1965
This car is an absolute icon in Italy as it is incredibly fun to drive and absolutely stunning. This car is the perfect example of what Italians mean when they say that "Alfas are the Ferraris for poor people."
This car can offer you as much fun as a Ferrari for a fraction of the price. The Giulia was powered by a 1.6-liter inline-four cylinder that produced 113 horsepower and could reach a top speed of 115 mph. The car weighed barely 800kg which made the GTA extremely quick.
6 Stradale 33
This is one of the rarest cars ever made by Alfa Romeo as only 14 units were built between 1967 and 1969. It was called Stradale because it was the street-legal version of a racing car. The car is a vintage beast as it is powered by a 2.0-liter V8 that produces 227 horsepower and it can reach a top speed of 160 mph.
The car also had a blistering acceleration for a 1960s car as it was able to go from 0 to 62 mph in less than 6 seconds. A Stradale 33 is now worth more than $10 million.
5 Stelvio Q4
The Stelvio is one of the coolest SUVs currently on the market as it combines the sturdiness of a bulky vehicle with the performance of a supercar. The car is powered by a twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 that produces 503 horsepower and can reach a top speed of 173 mph.
This heavy vehicle is so fast that it can go from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.8 seconds. The car was first introduced in 2016 at the Los Angeles Motor Show and it marked the return of the Italian brand in the North American market after years of absence.
4 Giulia Quadrifoglio
The Giulia was the flashy way of Alfa Romeo to come back on the market with a new and incredible car. The base version is already beautiful but the Quadrifoglio is a scary supercar disguised as a sporty sedan. The car is also powered by a turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 that was designed with the engineers from Maranello to be extremely powerful.
The engine produces 503 horsepower and can push the Giulia to a top speed of 191 mph and can go from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.8 seconds. This car has been created to compete with all the BMW 'M' and Mercedes AMG of this world.
3 155 TI V6 Quadrifoglio
The 155 was one of the most exciting cars to compete in the FIA touring class as it was powered by a magnificent 2.5-liter V6 that had an obscene output of 420 horsepower. The 1993 season was dominated by the 155 as it won 11 out of the 22 races.
The street version was also an incredible car as it was powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four cylinder that produced 185 horsepower and could easily reach 140 mph. The car was not only incredibly fast but it was also quite beautiful to look at thanks to its unique boxy look.
2 8C Competizione
The name Competizione means only one thing, that this car will compete and race against anyone as it is a gorgeous but quite aggressive beast. The engine had been assembled by Ferrari and it shared several components with the Maserati Gran Turismo.
The car was powered by a 4.7-liter V8 that generated 444 horsepower and could push the car to an electronically limited top speed of 181 mph. The car was able to go from 0 to 62 mph in a mere 4.2 seconds. Only 1000 units were made of this beautiful Italian supercar.
1 Giulia GTA Quadrifoglio 2021
Clearly, someone at Alfa must have thought that the 'basic' Giulia Quadrifoglio was not fast enough. Therefore, they created an even more brutal version of it, the GTA. The car is powered by the same engine, a twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6.
However, the new output is 533 horsepower which promises to push the GTA to a top speed of over 200 mph and go from 0 to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds. Only 500 units will be made of this car and it is expected to have a starting price of $155,000.
