All hail Glossier, the mother of the dewy no-makeup makeup tribe, the creators of the iconic Cloud Paint and the brains behind the wonder product that is the Boy Brow. In addition to these absolute beauty bag heroes, no other beauty brand does merch like Glossier does merch, I mean what doesn’t Glossier do?
Well, up until now, they were missing a lip tint that offered balm-like hydration, gloss-like sheen and a buildable pop of colour, but it looks like it’s finally here. Welcome Ultralip.

This newest launch features nine versatile shades in a hydrating and multifunctional formula that works as a tint, with the comfort of a balm, and non stick shine of a gloss all at once, with the founder of Glossier, Emily Weiss dubbing it as their “most exciting lip product ever.”

Formulated with a nourishing and moisturising fusion of four different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, meadowfoam seed oil, watermelon seed oil and jojoba seed, the colour pay off also provides long lasting hydration and locks in moisture, to leave lips feeling visibly softer and smoother.

Villa

To start, Glossier can do no wrong in my eyes. I can always rely on their products and formulas to make me feel like a 10/10, so when I first laid eyes on the Ultralip I knew I was in for a treat. In true Glossier fashion, the packaging is a millennial pink paradise, and feels super weighty and durable.

The colour I chose, Villa, is a happy marriage of brown, mauve and pink - a nude shade that my heart constantly longs for. What immediately impressed me is how intensely nourishing the formula feels - it's shiny without being sticky, and leaves my lips feeling moisturised AF for hours. On my actual lips, the shade does show up more on the pink side of the scale, but the result is a fresh, sheer, summery glow. I'll definitely be making a mental note to take this everywhere with me in summer.

I'm always excited by a balm / lipstick hybrid but often find myself disappointed by the formulas. Either, they tick the balm part but fall short in colour payoff, or the opposite way round. Glossier's new creamy, ultra-hydrating lip colour delivers both a punchy pop of colour as well as a dewy finish that soothes dry lips instantly. I tried the shade Fete, a pinky red shade, and also applied a few dabs to cheeks which not only tied my makeup look together but also created a subtle glow on my cheekbones.

Ember

Using lip balms is very much an everyday (sometimes every hour) reality and what I look for in a balm is something long lasting, that will hydrate, hydrate, HYDRATE, and leave my lips feeling soft for as long as it’s scientifically possible. I’m usually not one for tints though, but this formula had me sold. From the packaging, to the duo service of hydration and tint as well as the sexy sheen left behind...

In the words of Paris Hilton loves it. It was super soft on application, and it glided on my lips like butter, without the pulling and tugging you can get from stick balms. I picked this shade Ember, but prefer dark shades to be less sheer so I am dreaming of Villa as we speak.

Go Glossier! This is one of those products I didn’t think I needed but now that is here, I feel my beauty kit is more complete.

Lucite

What I absolutely adore about the Glossier Ultralip is that it is hands down the easiest lip product to apply. Perfect for the summer to give you an effortless, minimal and natural look. It takes a bit of layering to get strong pay off, so if you're looking for heavy pigment, this might not wow the life out of you, but as a bonus, it is long lasting. It took a good few hours before I started to notice major fading, and when it did, it did so evenly, without leaving that clown-like finish. You know how it goes — with the colour pigment congregating around the lip line. I love easy-to-apply makeup, that's why this will now be my new go-to daily lip wear. I tried the Lucite shade, and although I usually don't go for light pinks, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it looked with my fair complexion. Also, it's vegan, and I am into that!

Glossier are tapping right into the sheer and glassy texture trend - I love how the shade, though bright red in the bullet, it lets my natural lip colour come through. Think of it like a 'my lips but better' colour, except the enhancement is cherry-toned, rather than your personal nude.

Somewhere between a gloss and a balmy texture, it feels comfy, was hydrating and had an incredibly high shine. Naturally this means it will transfer onto mugs, masks and the like, but it's easy to top up and doesn't need precise application (thank you, sheer finishes). It also wins points from me for having no strong smell or taste - it's pretty inconspicuous in that way.

This lends itself to a style of makeup that looks 'lived in', which is worth keeping in mind. Fine red gatherings formed in my lip lines (that you could only notice close up) and bunched in arches of my cupid's bow, my own personal struggle as they are super defined. So the finish didn't look perfected but, if 'lived in' is your vibe, it'll be a winner.
