Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish hailed Son Heung-min after Tottenham’s breathless FA Cup defeat against Everton, labelling his performance as an ‘absolute scandal’.

The Premier League sides played out an incredible fifth round tie at Goodison Park on Wednesday with Everton emerging 5-4 winners after extra-time.

Spurs were ahead inside the opening three minutes with Davinson Sanchez heading home from a corner but the hosts hit back with three goals in eight minutes before half-time.

Strikes from Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson swung the tie in the favour of Carlo Ancelotti’s side before Erik Lamela scored for Spurs in added time at the end of the first period to make it 3-2.

Sanchez struck again to level just before the hour mark before Richarlison restored Everton’s advantage ten minutes later.

But Spurs were not done yet in the pulsating clash and Son sent over the perfect cross from which Harry Kane made no mistake with seven minutes to go.

Grealish was clearly as enthralled as the rest of us and after watching his England teammate Kane link up with Son to devastating effect once again, the Villa skipper took to social media.

That goal sent the tie into extra-time and Spurs appeared to be in the ascendancy. But it was Everton who secured passage to the quarter-finals, Bernard beating Hugo Lloris with a tidy finish from a tight angle.

Spurs boss Jose Mournho said at full-time: “If you say it was fantastic, it was fantastic. I'm not a neutral.

“When you score four goals, you have to win. The way we played, we should win comfortably. Attacking football and defensive mistakes.”
