Attack On Titan is one of the most popular manga stories ever made. However, not all fans are aware of the prequels and spin-offs that the series has had throughout the years, one of which being Attack On Titan: No Regrets.
This two-volume manga tells the story of how Levi joined the Survey Corps and became close to Erwin. The two have been through a lot together and since they are both beloved characters, readers enjoyed learning how they first met. As with most stories in the franchise, the writing of this title was great, and these 10 quotes stood out more than the rest.

Levi and Erwin weren't always close comrades. Levi lived in the Underground with his friends, Isabel and Furlan. The three were criminals that learned how to use vertical maneuvering gear. Impressed by Levi's skills, Erwin gave him the choice of either joining the Survey Corps or being charged for his crimes. The trio decided to join the military, but Levi had one goal in mind. He wanted to kill the squad leader.
9 "You Say That, But If I End Up Beating The Titans, Then Doesn't That Make All Them Elites Lower Than Punks?"
After the three became members of the Survey Corps, they were treated poorly by the other soldiers. One of them told Isabel that she wouldn't be able to do anything against the titans and that people much stronger than her failed to defeat them. However, Isabel was very confident and said these words. Though she didn't live for much longer, she was confident in her skills until she faced death.

When Flagon first met Levi, Isabel, and Furlan, he was very disrespectful towards them. However, after seeing how skilled they were, his attitude started to change.
When they were talking about Erwin's formation, he told them why the other military branches and the civilians did not like the Survey Corps. Luckily, Erwin's plan would eventually give people hope in the Survey Corps again.

In the beginning of the manga, Darius told Erwin and Keith that everyone around them, especially Councilman Lovof, started losing faith in the Survey Corps. Erwin decided that he would do anything to prevent Lovof from shutting them down. He said these words to Keith, letting him know just how important saving their branch meant to him. A few days later, the Survey Corps was allowed to use Erwin's formation.
6 "Everyone Saw Your Fight. You've Given Them Hope That Humans Don't Have To Lose To The Titans If We Fight Correctly. It Was Really Outstanding!"
While Levi, Furlan, and Isabel were having a private conversation about killing Erwin, Hange approached them and told them how much she admired watching them fight. Up until this point, the soldiers didn't see much value in the three from the Underground. When she asked Levi if he could teach her anything, he refused to help, not wanting to be responsible for her life. Little did either of them know that they would be close comrades for years to come.
5 "As You've Realized, The Survey Corps Was Built Upon Countless Such Sacrifices. There Are Still Too Many Things We Don't Know About The Outside World. But If It Means Taking Back The World For Humanity, I'm Sure None Of Them Regret Dedicating Their Hearts To That Cause. Not One."
When Erwin saw Levi on his own, he saw it as an opportunity to speak with his strongest recruit. He asked him how he was settling into the military and told him that his battle against a titan earlier that day was brilliant. Levi explained that he won that fight by seeing how another Survey Corps member lost against the titan. Erwin said these words to Levi before the recruit joined his friends again.
4 "It Wasn't Worth Throwing Away Their Lives! They Were Nothing But Pawns In Your Worthless Game. Well, You Lose."
At the end of the manga, Furlan and Isabel died to the titans. Losing everything, Levi decided that it was time to kill Erwin, now blaming him for the deaths of his comrades.
When he confronted him, Erwin told Levi that everything that happened was to win his fight against Lovof. Upon hearing this, Levi almost killed him, but Erwin was able to convince the recruit that it wasn't his fault.
3 "I Feel Like I'm Starting To Get Why These Guys Come Out Here. Going Outside The Walls, It's Like How We Wanted To Get Up Above, Out Of The Underground. Lots Of My Friends Died Underground, Dreaming Of Making It Up There. Seeing Them, I Felt Like I Just Had To Get Up There."
Isabel and her friends always wanted to live better lives and leave the Underground but never thought of what was beyond Wall Maria. In the short time that she was in the Survey Corps, she learned how similar she was to her new comrades. Furlan started to think that she actually wanted to join the Survey Corps. However, her decision to fight the titans alongside them resulted in her own demise.

Throughout Attack On Titan, Levi has always said that since he doesn't know the outcome of a decision, he cannot guarantee what he and his comrades should do. The reason he feels this way is because of the choice he made that led to Isabel and Furlan's deaths. He decided to go fulfill their mission on his own. Because of this, Isabel and Furlan couldn't handle the titans that they faced without their strongest friend. By the time he returned, he was too late. He missed his chance to save them seconds before he could have.

Erwin has always been a good talker. When Levi almost killed him, he was able to convince him that the titans are to blame for everything bad that happened to him and that they are his true enemies. Levi decided to become a member of the Survey Corps, for real this time. The two became very close and fought the titans with each other for years until Levi had to choose between letting Erwin or Armin die. In the end, Levi really was responsible for Erwin's death, even after he didn't want to be.
