Chelsea supporters put a variety of price tags upon Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s head after Scott Parker confirmed he would be interested in signing him permanently at Fulham.

Parker said he’d be more than happy to turn the 25-year-old’s loan spell at Craven Cottage from Chelsea into an indefinite one next season.

“Would I try to sign him permanently? Yes, of course,” Parker said to Football London.

The response from Blues fans was a mixture of not wanting Loftus-Cheek to leave his parent club and others willing to let him go for a fee.

For all his undeniable quality and talent, Loftus-Cheek has never truly been able to establish himself at Stamford Bridge.

There have certainly been periods where he looked like the finish product.

He enjoyed a particularly prosperous spell under Maurizio Sarri in 2018/19, making 40 appearances and scoring ten goals.

Unfortunately, Loftus-Cheek couldn’t continue this into the following campaign.

After rupturing his Achilles tendon, the midfielder missed almost six months of action for Chelsea and rarely got a chance to prove himself to Frank Lampard.

His move across London to Fulham has so far conjured a happy relationship.

Although both parties are content with the current situation, things may become less rosy if Parker’s side are relegated from the Premier League.

Fulham might struggle to hold onto Loftus-Cheek, who will feel he belongs in the top division.

There will certainly be plenty of teams interested in recruiting him, even if Chelsea isn’t one of them.

I’m a big fan of Ruben. Always have and always will be.

But sometimes you must let go of the ones you love the most.

He looks happy at Fulham and I hope for both of their sakes they stay up so that he can settle into somewhere he feels he belongs.
