Owatonna Police Report “Porch Pirate” Theft

Owatonna is no where near the high seas. And I haven't seen a Jack Sparrow look-a-like in a while. But pirates are still in our midst. The Owatonna Police Department reports in their November 13 edition of Just the Facts, "The first porch pirate theft of the holiday season took place this past week and serves as a good reminder to protect your home delivery purchases from thieves patrolling the neighborhoods."

The office indicates the robbery occurred in the 200 block of 16th St NE "and according to delivery records, packages were stolen with an hour of delivery."

The police department says to have deliveries made to your place of work if possible, reschedule the delivery if you aren't going to be home, or have a neighbor take delivery. Check more suggestions in Just the Facts.

In a separate incident, an Owatonna patrol officer "observed a motorist fail to yield and almost strike two pedestrians near the intersection of Main Street and Cedar Avenue." The individual was pulled over and ultimately charged with two counts of third-degree DWI.

In the November 6 Just the Facts, the police department reminds Owatonna residents to be aware of winter parking restrictions that went into effect on November 15 and continue through March 31, 2021.
