Matteo Guendouzi will NOT be returning to Arsenal in the January transfer window.

There has been talk that the Gunners would cut the French midfielder's loan spell at Hertha Berlin short to avoid the risk of losing him on a permanent basis this summer.

Guendouzi, whose contract runs until the end of next season, has been frozen out by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta since clashing with Brighton’s Neal Maupay last June.

He was alleged to have boasted about his superior wages in a 2-1 defeat to the Seagulls as was widely criticised for alleged attitude problems.

Guendouzi joined Hertha Berlin on a season-long loan last October and has scored two goals in his last five appearances.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claims Arsenal will not recall Guendouzi in the January transfer window, however.

He said: "Matteo Guendouzi is *not* coming back to Arsenal in January. Hertha Berlin want to keep him until the end of the season."

Perry Groves says Sead Kolasinac won't be the last player to leave Arsenal this season and believes it's time for Mikel Arteta to get rid of all the 'deadwood' at the club

Last month, former Man City and England midfielder Trevor Sinclair criticised Arteta for his treatment of Guendouzi, who cost Arsenal £7million from Lorient in 2018.

Sinclair told the talkSPORT Breakfast: “Everyone talks about how he’s a great coach, but that’s not what makes a manager.

“It’s your man management skills. You look at Guendouzi scoring over the weekend, and you look at Ozil, he is not contributing to that side.

“So for me, if you’re looking at man management, which is management, he’s not doing that well.

“He might be a great coach, but he’s not managing the players well and he’s not getting the best out of individuals in that squad.”
